Vance Criticizes Harris at Nevada Rally
U.S. Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance devoted most of his rally speech, in Henderson, Nevada, to criticizing potential Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
The Ohio Senator accused the media of misleading the American public about Harris's accomplishments. "The same media that told us for three and a half years that Joe Biden was Albert Einstein is now trying to tell us that Kamala Harris is Abraham Lincoln," he said.
Vance, 39, also accused the Vice President of disloyalty to the United States by supporting NAFTA, advocating for open borders, and covering for Joe Biden's "declining mental capacity." He stated, "Loyalty is serving your country in the Marine Corps, which I did. Loyalty is taking a bullet for this country, which Donald J. Trump did. If Kamala Harris wants to see the face of disloyalty, she might as well look in the mirror."
Trump and Vance have tried to link Harris to what they claim are the Biden administration's failures to control high inflation and manage the surge of migrants at the southern border with Mexico. Republicans have also portrayed Harris as more liberal and extreme than Biden.
Meanwhile Harris remarked that some of the claims made by the Republican duo about her are "plain weird." She invited Trump to reconsider meeting her on the debate stage to address his criticisms face-to-face.
She concluded the event by asserting that the momentum of the presidential race is shifting, and there are indications that Trump is feeling the pressure.
The spirited Atlanta rally featured appearances by rappers Megan Thee Stallion and Quavo.
Poll published showed Harris narrowing a significant lead by Trump, while a Wall Street Journal poll indicated Trump held a two-point lead.
