Protests in Jordan and Yemen Support Gaza Amid Conflict
Protesters gathered near the Israeli embassy in Amman, Jordan in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
Approximately 250 people were seen at the demonstration, holding up placards and chanting slogans.
"The message is that the war of genocide, displacement, starvation and the violation of the occupied West Bank, in plane sight of the Arabs and the world, is a crime with witnesses," said protester, Abdul Majeed Rantis.
In recent days, Israel has issued several evacuation orders across Gaza, the most since the beginning of the 10-month war, prompting an outcry from Palestinians, the United Nations and relief officials over the reduction of humanitarian zones and the absence of safe areas.
Meanwhile Thousands of Yemenis, mostly Houthi supporters, gathered in Sanaa where they held a protest in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Protesters held up Palestinian and Yemen flags, while chanting slogans against the United States and Israel.
The Houthis have launched more than 70 attacks on commercial ships in solidarity with Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Those assaults have sunk two vessels, killed at least three crew and disrupted global trade by forcing ships to avoid the vital Suez Canal shortcut.
The latest bloodshed in the decades-old Israeli-Palestinian conflict was triggered on Oct. 7 when Palestinian Islamist group Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,200 and taking about 250 hostages, according to Israeli tallies.
Israel's subsequent assault on the Hamas-governed enclave has since killed over 40,000 Palestinians, according to the local health ministry, while also displacing nearly the entire population of 2.3 million, causing a hunger crisis and leading to genocide allegations at the World Court that Israel denies.
