China and Iran Deepen Ties in Regional Affairs
China is ready to deepen coordination and cooperation with Iran in regional and international affairs, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said while meeting with Iranian Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani in Russia.
Wang expressed condolences over the deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. He said China supports the Iranian government and people in adhering to their domestic and foreign policies, maintaining stability and development, and wishes Iran a successful presidential election.
Wang noted China-Iran relations are at a crucial stage of building on the past and opening the future. China stands ready to view bilateral ties strategically, solidly advance pragmatic cooperation, deepen coordination on regional and international affairs, and contribute to peace and stability.
China will continue supporting improved Iran-Saudi Arabia relations and lasting regional good-neighborliness, Wang added.
Bagheri Kani thanked China for condolences and sent a representative to the memorial service. He said Iran is committed to strengthening strategic ties with China and enhancing cooperation for new bilateral progress.
Developing good Iran-China relations benefits both peoples and regional-global peace and stability, as well as a fairer international order and developing countries' rights, Bagheri Kani stated.
Iran adheres to the one-China principle, supports China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and appreciates China's multilateralism and upholding fairness and justice, he said, adding unilateralism has reached a dead end as shown in the prolonged Gaza conflict.
Iran is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China on international and regional affairs and jointly uphold multilateralism, Bagheri Kani noted.
