Trump warns Israel at risk without 2024 victory
Donald Trump said that Israel will be “wiped off the face of the earth” if he does not win the 2024 presidential election and that the election is about “saving Israel”.
Former President Trump, the Republican nominee, made the comments at an event sponsored by the Israel-American Council titled “Fighting Anti-Semitism in America”.
Lamenting the fact that his support among Jewish Americans was only at 40%, according to a poll he cited, Trump said.
“So we have to save Israel. Look, you're here for a reason. We have to save Israel. This is no longer a game. This is the saving of Israel. And I'm going to mention it, we're making a big statement in a little while at another conference, also very important. I believe that Israel will be wiped off the face of the earth if I don't win,” Trump said.
Trump also blamed Democratic nominee and US Vice President Kamala Harris for what he called an “explosion” of anti-Semitism in recent years.
Trump also warned that the pro-Israel lobby was no longer as strong as it once had been, saying that 15 years ago, “if you said something about a Jewish person or something about Israel that was bad, you were out of politics”, but that is no longer the case.
However Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris called for action to stop gun violence at schools during a campaign event with TV host Oprah Winfrey in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
"I think for far too long the issue of gun violence, some people have been pushing a really false choice, to suggest you're either in favor of the Second Amendment or you want to take everyone's guns away. I'm in favor of the Second Amendment and I'm in favor of assault weapons bans, universal background checks, red flag laws. And these are just common sense," Harris said.
15-year-old Natalie Griffith who was shot in her shoulder and wrist during the deadly Georgia school shooting attended the event with her parents and said "it was a terrible thing".
