Venezuelan Teen Killed During Protests
Venezuelan mourners carried the coffin of 15-year-old Isaias Fuenmayor through the streets of San Francisco.
Fuenmayor was killed during anti-government protests, his family said it was the National Guard who shot at him.
Noemi Fuenmayor, Isaias' sister, said he was shot at close range and said his brother was on his way back from a quinceanera rehearsal when he stopped to look at the protesters.
The opposition says its tally of about 90% of votes shows that its candidate Edmundo Gonzalez received more than double the support attracted by Maduro.
Opposition candidate Gonzalez says he has the vote tallies to prove he beat Maduro.
Protesters took to streets throughout Venezuela, waving flags and demanding Maduro acknowledge he lost Sunday's election to the opposition that says they clinched a landslide victory.
Opposition protesters were also marching in the cities of Valencia, Maracay, San Cristobal, Maracaibo and Barquisimeto.
The protests, which the government denounced as an attempted "coup," began after the South American country's electoral authority declared that Maduro had won a third term with 51% of votes to extend a quarter-century of socialist rule.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said that he would be willing to restart talks with the United States if Washington shows Venezuela due respect.
The leftist leader also said the Carter Center report on the Venezuelan elections was written a month ago. “We have had the report for a month. They only needed to spice it up," Maduro said during a press conference at the Miraflores presidential palace.
Maduro also challenged businessman Elon Musk to a fight. Tension between Musk and Maduro has grown recently, with the businessman accusing Maduro of perpetuating himself in power and committing electoral fraud.
The U.S.-based Carter Center, which observed the vote, said in a statement late that the election cannot be considered democratic.
