AI steals the spotlight at Auto Shanghai 2025

Auto Shanghai 2025 is in full swing as the event highlights the increasing integration of artificial intelligence in the automotive industry. Running from April 23 to May 2 at Shanghai’s National Exhibition and Convention Center, the show has attracted global attention with over 100 debuts from 1,000 auto brands and an estimated 100,000 daily visitors.
Automakers and tech companies are leveraging AI to advance driving safety, connectivity, and overall vehicle functionality. Volkswagen, for instance, introduced an AI-powered Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) engineered for China’s complex traffic environments as part of its “In China, for China” strategy. Meanwhile, ARCFOX, in collaboration with Pony.ai, showcased the αT5 ULTRA RoboTaxi equipped with a fully redundant Level 4 autonomous driving system aimed at accelerating the deployment of autonomous ride-hailing services in the country.
Intelligent cockpit systems are also taking center stage. An auto parts industry leader unveiled its first intelligent cockpit system developed by its Chinese team, hinting at a future where traditional car keys may become obsolete. Bosch, reinforcing its commitment to innovation in vehicle electronics, announced its first Chinese order for a high-performance computer designed to power AI-enabled cockpits, with production expected to commence before the year’s end. Continental introduced its "In2Visible" overhead console, merging cutting-edge electronics and modern materials to enhance the in-car user experience.
Electrification efforts receive an intelligent boost at the show as well. BAIC Group, partnering with Huawei, presented the STELATO S9 REEV Edition executive sedan with an impressive CLTC range of 1,355 km and sophisticated energy recovery systems. In a similar vein, GAC Group revealed four AI-enabled models, including a Level 4 Robotaxi, underscoring its commitment to developing an AI-driven future mobility frame.
