After consecutive days with the city of Rosario affected by the smoke from the fires on the islands of the Paraná River Deltaenvironmental groups and thousands of Rosario residents held a demonstration this afternoon demanding solutions from the Judiciary and the Government.

Under the motto “Enough burning, enough smoke Enough of this violence”, the convocation at the National Monument to the Flag began at 6:00 p.m.

Due to the mobilisation, cuts and traffic diversions were arranged an hour before the start in the surroundings of the Monument to the Flag. In social networks, Rosario complained about the situation under the hashtag #NoWeCanBreathe.

Last Tuesday morning graffiti appeared on several public buildings, such as the Municipal Palace and the Provincial Courts, with phrases referring to lethal violence and burning on the islands as “lead and smoke, the business of killing”.

”The weather is better now, but at two or three (in the morning) it was unbearable, because we depend on the wind. It is very serious”, said the mayor of Rosario on Wednesday morning, Paul Javkinin statements to Radio The Network.

avakin also questioned the lack of action of Justice against those responsible for the fires on the islands and the pending sanction of the Wetlands Law.

This Tuesday, the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Juan Cabandié, expanded the complaints about the fires before the judge of the Entire Ríos city of Victoria Federico Martín, which he described as “intentional with different interests”. In addition, he asked that the owners of the fields where the flames occur be identified and acted upon.
