Humpback whales arrive at Colombia to mate
From July to October, humpback whales return to the warm tropical waters of Colombia's Pacific coast where they were born, to start their mating ritual.
According to recent studies, around 2,000 humpback whales arrive to the Colombian Pacific Ocean in one of the most impressive migration process of the animal world.
Humpback whales are robust mammals, they measures can reach 16 meters, can weight up to 36 tones and swim up to 15 kilometers per hour.
The whale calves measure four meters in length and weigh approximately a ton and a half. When they become adults, they measure between eighteen and thirteen meters in length, and they can weigh up to forty tons.
The Pacific Region in Colombia has the ideal geographic location and weather conditions for the humpback whales to spend their mating season.
