Six people, four of them teenagers, were murdered  in a municipality southeast of Guadalajara, in western Mexico, while two more were injured, the state prosecutor reported.

The attack occurred in the municipality of Tlaquepaque where three other multiple murders have been recorded so far in February, according to information from the authorities.

"The death of six people is confirmed, two women, four men, and there are two people being treated in hospitals, a woman and a man," Joaquín Méndez Ruiz, prosecutor of Jalisco, where Guadalajara is located, told reporters.

The victims were two women, ages 14 and 15; two men of the same ages, as well as two adults, between 20 and 23 years old, the prosecutor said.

Those who were injured are also teenagers, 14 and 15 years old, according to data provided by the victims' relatives, said Méndez, who also indicated that they were together when they were attacked.

The injured have not been able to provide precise information about the attackers due to their state of health, Méndez indicated.

More than 10 short weapon casings were found at the crime scene, while the prosecution is focused on reviewing surveillance cameras and searching for testimonies.

Of the three multiple homicides previously recorded in Tlaquepaque, two occurred on February 4, when six bodies were found in two different neighborhoods. Two days later, three more people were found dead.
