Iran rejects Trump Hormuz claims

Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad‑Baqer Qalibaf, rejected a series of claims made by former U.S. President Donald Trump about the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s transit rules, calling seven statements made within an hour “false.”

Trump had asserted that Iran had agreed never to close the strait and that a U.S. naval blockade would remain in effect until a transaction with Iran was complete, and suggested ceasefire talks were nearly finished.

Qalibaf warned that continued blockade measures would prompt closure, and said passage would occur only via a “designated route” with Iran’s authorization, adding that the strait’s status will be decided on the battlefield rather than on social media.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei reiterated Iran’s insistence on a 10‑point proposal submitted before Trump’s April 7 announcement, demanding a definitive end to aggression, lifting of sanctions and compensation as indivisible conditions for any settlement.

Officials say previous U.S. messaging about inflicting irreversible damage on Iran’s capabilities proved false and will not influence negotiations.
