Iranian adviser warns U.S. of escalation
Tehran threatens severe response if attacks resume
A senior adviser to Iran’s supreme leader warned that any new aggression against Iran would be “catastrophic” for the United States, saying history will record that Iran sank the American superpower in the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman. Mohsen Rezaei, a former IRGC commander, claimed US military personnel warned of risks to vessels and troops and said Iran could take large numbers of US forces captive if attacks resume. He asserted Iran has launched “at least 100 waves” of reprisals against American and Israeli targets across West Asia and retains substantial military capability despite the campaign against it.
Rezaei accused the US of maintaining an illegal blockade of Iranian shipping even after a declared lull in strikes, and noted Tehran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz to vessels without Iranian authorization, a move he said has roiled global energy markets. He recommended that the cheapest US option would be to accept Iran’s ten conditions for ending the confrontation, including cessation of aggression, removal of sanctions and compensation.
Dismissing reports about the leader’s health, Rezaei described him as “young, healthy and energetic,” vowed revenge for the killing of a predecessor that would culminate only with Israel’s elimination, and argued the conflict exposed US dependence on Israeli pressure and growing European reluctance to back Washington’s course.
