PSG extend Luis Enrique's contract through 2027
Paris Saint-Germain have extended head coach Luis Enrique through to 2027 according to media reports.
Enrique's contract was set to expire at the end of the season, having signed a two-year deal at the Parc des Princes in 2023.
In his first season at the club, Enrique guided the Parisians to a domestic double and last four Champions League finish.
While neither PSG or Enrique are yet to officially confirm the contract renewal, the club hierarchy are believed to be pleased with the progress made under the Spaniard as the club shifts from a free-spending transfer policy to one which favors developing young homegrown talent.
Enrique has also been praised for his handling of a challenging 2023/24 campaign off the pitch, particularly the tumultuous exit of club record goalscorer Kylian Mbappe.
The 54-year-old former striker has previously coached Barcelona, leading the Blaugrana to an historic treble-winning 2014-15 season, and the Spanish national team.
The Spaniard's current contract with the club expires in June 2025, which has called for the executives at PSG to enter talks for a new deal.
The proposal has reportedly been ready since September, as PSG deem Luis Enrique to be a key part of their project. The manager, who is currently in his second season with the Parisians, was fully involved in the club's transfer plans, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Luis Enrique will reportedly pen the contract, which will increase his stay at PSG for two more years, until 2027. After changing through Pochettino, Unai Emery, Galtier and Thomas Tuchel in quick succession, PSG seem to have found in Luis Enrique a long-term head coach.
The former Barcelona boss is currently facing his first season without Kylian Mbappe, who moved to Real Madrid during the summer transfer window. Luis Enrique has led Paris Saint-Germain in 62 matches thus far. From those 62 matches, he has won 40, drew 14 and only lost.
