Ronaldo to extend Al-Nassr stay till 2026

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to extend his stay with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, with media reports indicating that he is close to finalizing a new contract that would keep him in Riyadh until 2026. His current deal is set to expire on June 30, 2025. Despite not winning any major silverware since joining Al-Nassr in January 2023, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has made a significant impact, scoring 99 goals in 111 appearances and securing the Saudi Pro League's golden boot for the past two seasons.
Ronaldo recently helped Portugal clinch their second UEFA Nations League title, defeating Spain in the final on penalties. Amid speculation about potential moves to clubs like Inter Miami and Fluminense, Ronaldo has reaffirmed his commitment to Al-Nassr, stating, "My future? Basically nothing's gonna change. Staying at Al Nassr? Yeah."
Al-Nassr has experienced changes in management, recently parting ways with head coach Stefano Pioli after just one season, reportedly due to disagreements with Ronaldo and other players. Jorge Jesus, a former coach of Al-Hilal, is being considered as a potential successor to Pioli.
Financially, the new contract for Ronaldo is expected to be substantial, potentially maintaining his status as one of the highest-paid footballers globally. Reports suggest that the deal could include a salary exceeding €200 million annually, along with various commercial and sponsorship agreements. Ronaldo's impressive performance on the field, including scoring 35 goals in 41 matches during the 2024–25 season, has not yet translated into major titles for Al-Nassr, as the team finished third in the league and reached the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League Elite. This extension would further solidify Ronaldo's influence in Saudi football and his role in promoting the sport in the region.
