Netflix’s "Adolescence" shines with historic acting wins
Emergency room drama "The Pitt" was awarded the title of best drama series at the annual Emmy Awards, while Netflix's "Adolescence" took home the honor of best limited series. "The Pitt," which features Noah Wyle, triumphed over the heavily nominated "Severance," with Wyle also winning best actor for his role as Dr. Robby.
Fifteen-year-old Owen Cooper made history by becoming the youngest winner of the best supporting actor in a limited series for his performance in "Adolescence," a British drama addressing teenage violence. Cooper expressed gratitude for his success, attributing it to his dedication to drama classes and encouraging others to step out of their comfort zones.
The winners were selected by approximately 26,000 members of the Television Academy, and the ceremony showcased significant achievements in both drama and limited series categories. "The Pitt" not only won Outstanding Drama Series but also saw Katherine LaNasa awarded best supporting actress.
In the limited series category, "Adolescence" excelled, winning Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and several acting awards, including best actor for Stephen Graham and best supporting actress for Erin Doherty. The show also received accolades for directing and writing, solidifying its status as a standout production for Netflix.
Other notable wins included Britt Lower for best actress and Tramell Tillman for best supporting actor in "Severance," ensuring the series remained a strong contender in the drama field. Meanwhile, Hulu's "The Studio" dominated the comedy category, winning a record 13 Emmys, including best comedy series, with Seth Rogen recognized as best actor in a comedy series.
The evening was marked by emotional speeches and historic wins, with Cooper dedicating his award to aspiring young dreamers and Wyle receiving a warm reception for his return to Emmy recognition. The 2025 Emmys highlighted the evolving landscape of television, showcasing both established stars and emerging talents while emphasizing the growing influence of streaming services in the industry.
