Fatal Learjet crash at Scottsdale airport

A fatal collision occurred at Scottsdale Municipal Airport in Arizona when a Learjet 35A skidded off the runway during landing and crashed into a parked Gulfstream 200 business jet. One person was killed, and three others were hospitalized with various injuries, while a fifth person declined medical treatment.
The incident, which took place around 2:45 p.m., reportedly involved a Learjet owned by rock star Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe, though Neil's attorney confirmed he was not aboard the aircraft at the time. The crash appeared to result from a failure of the left main landing gear during landing, according to airport officials.
The Federal Aviation Administration immediately launched an investigation and temporarily suspended flights into the airport. The Learjet, which flight tracking data showed was arriving from Austin, had four people aboard, while one person was in the stationary Gulfstream at the time of impact.
Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky issued a statement expressing condolences to those affected and thanking first responders for their swift action. The city administration promised to keep the community updated as more information becomes available.
The accident comes amid increased scrutiny of U.S. air safety. The National Transportation Safety Board has taken charge of the investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Dramatic video footage captured the moment of impact as the aircraft veered off course on the runway. The incident prompted a large emergency response, with multiple crews arriving at the scene near Scottsdale and Thunderbird roads.
The airport's operations were suspended indefinitely as authorities began their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
