Iran, Oman strengthen bilateral cooperation
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says the Islamic Republic’s practical approach is based on the promotion of peace and security in the region and among all the countries in the Muslim world.
In a meeting with Oman's Foreign Minister Said Badr al-Busaidi in Tehran, Pezeshkian said Iran’s foreign policy is on the basis of expanding relations with Muslim and neighboring countries.
He noted that Iran and Oman have agreed to hold a session of the joint economic committee in Muscat in the near future.
The two countries are taking positive measures to accelerate the implementation of previous agreements and sign new deals in the future, he explained.
The Omani foreign minister, for his part, said his country’s ties with Iran are based on mutual confidence and goodwill, calling for further promotion of relations.
Busaidi added that enhanced ties with Iran based on mutual respect and confidence is an unchangeable rule for Oman.
Also Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, who has traveled to Tehran for consultations with senior Iranian officials, held talks with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
The Iranian foreign minister described the relations between Iran and Oman as excellent and emphasized Tehran’s readiness to open new areas of cooperation, especially in economic, trade, and energy fields.
Araghchi then referred to President Masoud Pezeshkian’s emphasis on the necessity of implementing agreements between the two countries and said holding a joint economic commission in the near future would be a suitable opportunity to address and pursue this matter.
Araghchi and Busaidi also discussed regional developments with the top Iranian diplomat noting that instability and chaos in Syria are not in favor of Iran or any other country in the region. Araghchi further said the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the formation of an inclusive government that represents all political, social, and civil groups within Syrian society.
Busaidi noted that Oman supports Syria's independence and territorial integrity as well.
