IRGC urges Americans to question U.S. wars

The IRGC has urged Americans to question why their flag is burned abroad, blaming decades of US wars and support for Israel for global hostility toward Washington. In remarks to foreign journalists, IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi said US military interventions had brought Americans neither security nor prosperity, only debt, anger, and greater risk overseas.

Mohebbi said the IRGC’s 25-page letter to Americans is a direct appeal, not propaganda, and asked journalists to share it with the public. He argued that the US maintains about 800 military bases and a huge defense budget that mainly benefits arms makers. He also said wars in Afghanistan and Yemen, along with tensions involving Iran, had failed to deliver decisive gains. He questioned why a wealthy country still faces poverty, homelessness, and major healthcare problems.

He criticized US backing for Israel’s campaign in Gaza, saying war spending could instead support reconstruction and poverty reduction. Mohebbi rejected the slogan “Death to America” as hostility toward Americans, saying it targets what he called US aggression and exploitation. He also accused successive US administrations, including those led by Donald Trump, of misleading the public about Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran’s nuclear program.

Mohebbi called claims that Iran sought nuclear weapons “the great lie of the century” and said Washington’s real aim is pressure on Iran, not disarmament. He said Iran has not pursued nuclear weapons and pointed to religious prohibitions and Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty obligations. The letter invites questions and even offers trips to the Strait of Hormuz for those who want to examine Iran’s claims. He said the goal is to inform Americans, especially young people and intellectuals, about Iran’s view of US policy.
