Jake Paul defeats Mike Tyson in boxing match
A historic boxing match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, saw YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul secure a unanimous decision victory over former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. The highly anticipated bout, witnessed by 72,300 fans, ended with judges scoring 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 in Paul's favor.
Paul, who improved his professional record to 11-1 (7 KOs), dominated the eight-round contest, landing 78 punches to Tyson's 18. The 58-year-old Tyson, fighting his first professional bout in 19 years, showed early aggression in the third round but quickly displayed signs of fatigue, lacking his signature explosive movement and power combinations.
The decisive moment came in the third round when Paul rocked Tyson with a right-hand, left-hook combination that left the former champion visibly stunned. While the opening rounds were relatively measured, Paul maintained control throughout the fight, effectively using his jab and combinations against an increasingly stationary Tyson.
After the victory, Paul showed respect for his opponent, calling Tyson the "G.O.A.T." and acknowledging his influence on boxing. Tyson, whose last professional win came in 2003 against Clifford Etienne, remarked that he was only proving something to himself, not to the world.
This bout marks Paul's most high-profile fight to date, following victories over various celebrities, former MMA fighters, and professional boxers. His only professional loss came against Tommy Fury in February 2023. For Tyson, this fight adds to his legacy, though it demonstrated the inevitable effects of age on the former champion who once dominated the heavyweight division with 44 knockouts.
The match, originally scheduled for July, had been postponed due to Tyson experiencing an ulcer flare-up.
