Palestinian man killed as clashes break out in funeral for 12-year-old boy
Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian man in the occupied West Bank, at a protest that took place during the funeral of a 12-year-old Palestinian boy also killed by Israel just one day earlier.
According to the Palestinian health ministry, 20-year-old Shawkat Khalid Awad, died of gunshot wounds to the head and stomach in Beit Ummar. Israeli forces also fired tear gas, rubber-coated bullets and stun grenades at the mourners attending the funeral.
On Wednesday, 12-year-old Mohamad al-Alami died after being shot by Israeli soldiers, while travelling in a car with his father in Beit Ummar, northwest of Hebron. On Thursday hundreds of Palestinians taking part in his funeral procession clashed with Israeli soldiers.
The area has been the scene of clashes between protesters and Israeli forces for weeks. Palestinians have been protesting against settlement building in the area.
All Isreali settlements built in the occupied Palestinian territories are illegal according to the 2016 UN resolution 2334.
