Protesters in Yemen and Jordan rally for Palestine
Thousands of protesters gathered in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, to show solidarity with Palestinians and Lebanon's Hezbollah, voicing doubt that Donald Trump’s return to the White House would bring any significant policy shifts.
The rally, largely composed of Houthi supporters, highlighted a prevalent view among protesters that US foreign policy remains consistent regardless of who occupies the presidency.
Abdul-Rahman al-Ahnoumi, the Houthi-appointed head of Yemen's Television and Radio Corporation, said that "Trump is no different from Biden in supporting the Israeli entity. All American presidents compete to support the Israeli entity."
Yemen's Houthis targeted Israel's southern Nevatim Airbase with a hypersonic ballistic rocket called "Palestine 2" and downed a US MQ-9 Reaper in the airspace of the Yemeni province of al-Jawf, the group's military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said.
Speaking during a pro-Palestinian protest in Sanaa, Sarea said the group will continue their targeted operations and that they will continue imposing their naval blockade on Israel and would target any ships belonging to, linked to, or heading to Israel, until Israel’s military operations in Gaza and Lebanon stop.
The speech comes less than a week after the Houthis said they were intensifying their attacks to support Hamas and Hezbollah in their resistance against Israeli actions in the region.
Since November, the Houthis have carried out nearly 100 attacks on ships crossing the Red Sea, a critical route for global trade linking the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.
Also Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of the Jordanian capital Amman in support of Palestinian and Lebanese people.
Demonstrators carrying posters of Palestinian children queuing up for food and wearing Al Qassam Brigades bandanas, marched in the streets of Amman chanting slogans.
The UN Human Rights Office said nearly 70% of the fatalities it has verified in the Gaza war were women and children.
