Algeria shooters ready for Mediterranean Games
Athletes prepare for competition in Italy, aiming for success.
Algeria's national shooting team is intensely preparing for the 20th Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, scheduled from August 21 to September 3. The eight-member team (four men, four women) is training at the Tipaza shooting complex, west of Algiers. This facility provides an ideal environment for athletes to hone skills and perfect their aim. Prominent athletes include Medjiah Halla, specializing in the 10-meter air pistol, and Bouchireb Samir. Their training is supervised by national team coach Adel Lecheheb, focused on optimizing performance and strategy for the upcoming challenges. The Mediterranean Games are a significant event for these athletes, offering a platform to showcase talent and compete against the region's best.Algeria will send one of the largest delegations to Taranto, second only to host Italy. The contingent will include over 200 athletes, part of a larger group of 420 individuals. This highlights Algeria's commitment to sports excellence and its ambition to achieve strong results at the games. Athletes will be housed on two cruise ships at the Taranto naval base, a unique arrangement designed to house the large number of participants.These games follow the 19th edition, which Algeria hosted in Oran in 2022. The experience from hosting the previous games, coupled with intensive training, is expected to provide Algerian athletes with a competitive edge. The focus remains on meticulous preparation and strategic execution to ensure peak condition for the Games in Italy.
