Hundreds of anti-G7 protesters gathered outside Calgary's city hall to express their opposition to the international summit taking place in Kananaskis, Alberta, from June 15 to June 17. The summit is expected to host leaders from various countries, including Ukraine, Mexico, India, Australia, South Africa, South Korea, and Brazil. The protest, organized by the International League of Peoples' Struggle (ILPS) Canada, was titled the "Resist the Genocidal 7!" march, aimed at highlighting issues affecting working people in G7 nations.

During the hours-long demonstration, participants chanted slogans and displayed placards representing a range of causes. Among the protesters were a group advocating for Kashmiri freedom, with one participant, Ali Subhan Khan, emphasizing the need for liberation from both Pakistan and India. The peaceful march was closely monitored by law enforcement, and at one point, a pro-Palestinian group briefly clashed verbally with pro-Israel supporters.

Authorities have designated three official protest zones in Calgary to facilitate peaceful assembly, equipped with infrastructure to livestream messages directly to G7 leaders in Kananaskis. Approximately 500 protesters participated, addressing diverse issues such as climate justice, Indigenous rights, global conflicts, and economic policies. Notably, pro-Khalistan activists protested against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's attendance, citing grievances related to India's treatment of Sikh communities.

The Integrated Safety and Security Group, led by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), coordinated with local law enforcement to ensure public safety during the summit. While the protests have remained largely peaceful, authorities are prepared to address any unlawful activities.
