European leaders meet in London on Ukraine

European leaders convened at Lancaster House in London for a pivotal summit addressing defense and security matters, particularly focusing on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. A notable moment from the event was the traditional "family photo," capturing the unity and collective resolve of the participating nations.
The photograph featured leaders standing at the base of a grand staircase, framed by an array of national flags, symbolizing their shared commitment to addressing Europe's pressing security challenges. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stood prominently at the center, underscoring the summit's focus on Ukraine's defense against ongoing aggression.
The summit's agenda encompassed discussions on enhancing defense expenditures among European nations and formulating a coalition to enforce a prospective peace agreement in Ukraine. The UK expressed readiness to deploy troops as part of this initiative, reflecting a robust stance on regional security.
This assembly in London not only highlighted the solidarity among European nations but also reinforced their collective dedication to supporting Ukraine during a critical juncture in its history.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he did not accept that the United States under President Donald Trump was an unreliable ally.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy clashed with Trump and cut his Washington visit short.
Asked during a press conference whether the U.S. was now an unreliable ally, Starmer said: "Nobody wanted to see what happened last Friday, but I do not accept that the U.S. is an unreliable ally."
"The U.S. has been a reliable ally to the UK for many, many decades, and continues to be."
Starmer also announced a new 1.6 billion pound ($2 billion) deal which would allow Ukraine to purchase 5,000 air-defense missiles using export finance.
