Iran launches fresh missile strikes

New missile attacks were launched from Iran toward Israel, with multiple rockets reported flying over Tel Aviv. Iranian anti-aircraft defenses responded to Israeli strikes in Tehran and Bandar Abbas, resulting in loud explosions. Israel confirmed the escalation of hostilities, which began on Friday when it targeted Iranian nuclear and missile facilities, leading to the deaths of senior military officials and scientists. Iran's UN envoy reported at least 78 fatalities and 320 injuries from the Israeli attacks.
In response, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned of "stronger and more decisive" retaliation against continued Israeli aggression. Iranian state media indicated that heavy counterstrikes were imminent. Since the conflict escalated, Iran has launched multiple missile barrages, with drone footage showing damage in Israel, particularly in Rishon Lezion, where residents inspected the destruction caused by Iranian missiles.
In Tehran, reports indicated that around 60 people, including 20 children, were killed in an attack on a housing complex, while Israel claimed to have struck over 150 targets. Air raid sirens in Israel prompted residents to seek shelter as waves of missiles were intercepted, resulting in at least three Israeli deaths. An Israeli official stated that Iran had fired approximately 200 ballistic missiles in four waves.
The latest Iranian missile strikes targeted key locations in Israel, including Ben Gurion Airport, as part of "Operation True Promise III." Iranian military spokesperson Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini announced that the operation aimed to hit Israeli fighter jet fuel production facilities and energy supply lines. Images showed Iranian drones and missiles bypassing Israeli air defenses to strike military and intelligence facilities.
As the attacks continued, residents in Israel sought refuge in underground bunkers, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly took cover.
