Israel’s army released footage showing what are claimed to be strikes on various Hezbollah targets in Lebanon amid concerns of a wider conflict in the Middle East.

According to captions on the footage, the strikes predominantly targeted Hezbollah weapons storage facilities in Lebanon, as well as one ‘military structure’.

Hostilities across the Lebanese-Israeli border have forced tens of thousands of people to leave both sides of the frontier. The risk of escalation has loomed large.

Concerns over a wider conflict in the Middle East have prompted international airlines to suspend flights to the region or to avoid affected air space.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would inflict a "heavy price" on the Houthis who control northern Yemen, after they reached central Israel with a missile for the first time.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said the group struck with a new hypersonic ballistic missile that traveled 2,040 km in just 11 1/2 minutes.

After initially saying the missile had fallen in an open area, Israel's military later said it had probably fragmented in the air, and that pieces of interceptors had landed in fields and near a railway station. Nobody was reported hurt.

"This caused a state of fear and panic among the Zionists, as more than two million Zionists headed to shelters for the first time in the history of the Israeli enemy. This operation comes within the fifth stage and came as a culmination of the efforts of the missile force's heroes who made tremendous efforts in developing missiles technology so that it would respond to the requirements of the battle and its challenges with the Zionist enemy," said Houthi Military Spokesperson, Yahya Sarea.

Air raid sirens had sounded in Tel Aviv and across central Israel moments before the impact, sending residents running for shelter.
