Israeli Airstrike Hits Yemen's Hodeidah Port
Clouds of black smoke and flames were seen rising in the sky in Yemen's Hodeidah port after Israeli fighter jets struck Houthi military targets in the area a day earlier.
The strike came a day after a drone launched by the group hit Israel's economic hub Tel Aviv.
Israel's military spokesperson said the port had been used by the Houthis to receive weapons shipments. The targets, more than 1,700 km from Israel, included dual-use sites such as energy infrastructure, he said.
Israeli warplanes carried out an air raid in Yemen's Hodeidah port, killing six people and injuring 80 others in the attack, medical sources in Yemen said, saying that they were all civilians.
Israel had informed allies before the strike, which the military said was carried out by Israeli F-15 fighters that all returned safely.
Israeli fighter jets struck Houthi military targets in the area of Hodeidah port in Yemen, the Israeli military said, a day after a drone launched by the group hit Israel's economic hub Tel Aviv.
“The naval forces, the drone force, and the missile forces of the Yemeni Houthi armed forces also carried out a joint military operation that targeted the American ship Pumba in the Red Sea with a number of ballistic missiles and drones, and the operation directly hit the ship by the grace of Allah,” said Yahya Sarea, Houthi military spokesman.
A thick column of black smoke rose over the burning port.
At least 80 people were wounded, most with severe burns, in airstrikes that targeted oil facilities and a power station at Hodeidah quoted the health ministry as saying.
