Russia hits Kharkiv with drone barrage

Russian forces launched a significant drone assault on Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, resulting in extensive damage and multiple casualties. According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov, the city endured over 20 strikes, with 17 occurring in the Osnovianskyi district. The attacks ignited fires and caused substantial destruction to residential and commercial structures.
More than 20 Russian drones hit Ukraine’s Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.
Terekhov said three people were injured and storage facilities were set on fire in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second largest city hit by drone attacks nearly every evening over the past week.
“This is our enemy’s new tactic to frighten the civilians. These are production enterprises, these are Kharkiv’s businessmen. Of course, they are scared,” Kharkiv Mayor told reporters.
In addition to Kharkiv, the cities of Dnipro and Kramatorsk were also targeted during the overnight offensive. Dnipro's governor, Serhiy Lysak, reported that the strikes sparked fires, damaged homes and vehicles, and injured six individuals, including a woman in serious condition. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine confirmed that civilian businesses sustained damage in these attacks.
These incidents are part of a broader pattern of intensified aerial assaults by Russian forces on Ukrainian urban centers, leading to significant civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. Ukrainian officials have consistently condemned these actions, urging the international community to enhance support for Ukraine's air defense capabilities. The ongoing conflict continues to inflict severe hardship on the Ukrainian populace, with frequent reports of casualties and destruction across various regions.
