Vienna talks reach 'important' stage: Iran FM after meeting Oman FM
Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers in the Sultanate of Oman Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al-Said.
During the meeting in Muscat, Amir Abdollahian described the latest developments related to the Vienna talks, and reaffirmed Iran's stance on the practical and constructive initiatives of the parties to this talk in practice and reiterated Iran's goodwill and seriousness in reaching a good agreement.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in relations between the two states, as well as important issues in the region.
Referring to the historical, continuous, and strategic relations between the two countries, Amirabdollahian mentioned the effective role of late Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said in shaping the relations between Iran and Oman, and emphasised the continuation of Tehran-Muscat relations during the reign of Sultan Haitham.
Outlining Iran's 13th government's policy of prioritising cooperation with regional states, Amir Abdollahian described Oman one of the main priorities for cooperation in the region while calling for the comprehensive expansion of cooperation between Tehran and Muscat in various political, economic, and cultural fields.
He emphasised the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to cooperate in the field of transportation of goods, passengers, energy, tourism and airlines.
The foreign minister also explained the new Iranian administration's approach to increasing cooperation with the countries of the Persian Gulf region within the framework of good neighbourhood policy, emphasising the absence of any restrictions and exceptions in establishing good relations with regional countries.
Referring to the principled view of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Yemen's crisis, Amir Abdollahian emphasised the need for paving a political path and dialogue to solve the problems in the crisis and thanked the Omani government for its efforts to transfer former Iran's envoy to Yemen to Tehran Martyr Hassan Irlou.
