Brazil to host Women's World Cup 2027

Brazil will host the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2027, becoming the first South American nation to stage the prestigious tournament. Brazil secured hosting rights at the 74th FIFA Congress, triumphing over a joint bid from Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. This decision marks a significant milestone for women's football in South America. The tenth edition of the Women's World Cup is scheduled from June 24 to July 25, 2027. All 64 fixtures will be played across eight Brazilian host cities: Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and São Paulo. The chosen cities boast modern stadia and robust infrastructure. The iconic Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro will host both the opening match and the final. Each of the eight host cities will stage a minimum of seven matches, including at least one knockout fixture. The preliminary phase draw for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 Play-Off Tournament was conducted in Zurich. This play-off will determine the final three teams to qualify. Six national teams are competing in the preliminary phase from November 24 to December 5, 2026: Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, South Africa, Ghana, Ecuador, and Papua New Guinea. They will each play three matches, with the top two teams advancing to the final phase of qualification, slated for February 2027. The 2027 edition is expected to build on the momentum of the 2023 tournament's expansion to 32 teams, which saw record attendances and viewership. This reflects FIFA's commitment to developing the sport worldwide. The tournament promises inspiring performances, elevating women's football, and boosting Brazil's tourism and economy.
