Iran moves to modernize defense industry

Iran's Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics has announced a comprehensive modernization of its defense industry, citing the necessity of adapting to lessons learned from recent conflicts involving the United States and Israel. In an official statement, the ministry described these wars as opportunities to identify new operational needs and refine the nation's strategic path, asserting that the experience has allowed them to reinvent and update their military capabilities to better thwart enemy calculations.

The ministry emphasized that national unity and the strong bond between the Iranian people and the armed forces serve as the foundation of national security. This domestic resilience, combined with the expertise of Iranian scientists, is credited with enabling the country to overcome crises and resist foreign threats. The statement further highlighted that international sanctions and threats have only increased the determination of the Islamic Republic to rely on its own domestic power and achieve complete independence from colonial influence.

The push for modernization is framed as a continuation of the vision established by the late leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. The ministry vowed to honor the martyrs of recent conflicts, specifically referencing the war in June 2025 and the 40-day war initiated by the US and Israel.

This strategic pivot comes amidst a volatile security environment. Following a round of aggression launched by the US and Israel, Iran retaliated with missile and drone barrages targeting Israeli-occupied territories and US regional bases.
