China and Kyrgyzstan cement 'eternal' ties

China and Kyrgyzstan have signed a landmark treaty on 'eternal good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation'. Signed in Bishkek during the ongoing Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Presidents Xi Jinping and Sadyr Japarov officiated, marking a new chapter in bilateral relations. The treaty provides a robust legal framework for enduring friendship and mutual support. Leaders emphasized its significance, with President Xi describing ties as a 'golden period' and President Japarov calling China a reliable partner. The comprehensive strategic partnership will deepen across economic cooperation, infrastructure development, and political trust. A key regional project is the proposed China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, aiming to enhance transport links across Central Asia and facilitate new trade routes. This treaty aligns with China's Belt and Road Initiative, integrating the region into vast trade and infrastructure networks. The SCO summit, hosted by Kyrgyzstan, provides a platform for Eurasian powers to coordinate on security, economic, and political matters. The SCO aims to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation among its member states, preserving regional peace, security, and stability. The organization, now with ten member states, underscores its growing global importance. The Bishkek summit also saw the signing of a joint declaration on strategic partnership and over thirty bilateral documents. These agreements reinforce commitments to mutual prosperity and regional stability, positioning Kyrgyzstan at the center of Eurasian diplomatic activity.
