During a ceremony held at Tehran University, Ayatollah Khamenei paid homage to the Hamas chief and his bodyguard, identified as Wasim Abu Shaaban.

Thousands of Iranians have taken to the streets nationwide to condemn the earlier assassination of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas’ Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in the country’s capital Tehran.
The demonstrations took place, hours after the atrocity claimed the lives of Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards.
The participants denounced the assassination as an act of terrorism and strongly protested the perpetrators’ violation of the Islamic Republic’s sovereignty.
They chanted slogans against the Israeli regime and its allies, including the United States, and demanded that the occupying entity be met with a decisive response.
Haniyeh was in the Iranian capital to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s newly-elected President Masoud Pezeshkian, where he was accompanied by other Axis of Resistance leaders.
The details of the assassination plot aren’t known yet, but the preliminary investigation points to the direct role of the Israeli regime and the green light from the Joe Biden administration in Washington.
