Wolf Fire spreads in California and Canada
The Wolf Fire continues to burn near Banning, California, having expanded to approximately 2,415 acres and is currently 30% contained. Firefighters are actively working to combat the blaze, which has prompted evacuation orders and warnings for several zones. The fire is exhibiting increased activity, particularly along Old Idyllwild Road near Highway 243, and is expected to face heightened fire behavior due to rising temperatures and lower humidity levels.
Emergency services are on standby at popular tourist sites, including the Colosseum, where several visitors have suffered from heat-related illnesses. Aircraft are dropping retardant lines to help contain the flames, which have not yet crossed east of Highway 243. Cooler temperatures and increased humidity overnight have aided containment efforts, but the fire remains a threat to nearby communities.
In Saskatchewan, Canada, the WOLF Fire has been burning since May 19, consuming approximately 161,420 hectares and threatening areas like Denare Beach. Evacuations have been ordered in multiple communities, and fire bans have been expanded across the province to mitigate risks.
Numerous fires have broken out across the Inland Empire, prompting evacuation orders amid hot conditions. The Wolf Fire and Mindy Fire have led to a smoke advisory, with air quality potentially unhealthy for sensitive groups. Other fires, such as the Juniper Fire in Perris and the Lake Fire in San Bernardino County, are also being actively managed, with varying degrees of containment.
As firefighters continue to battle these blazes, residents are urged to stay informed and adhere to evacuation orders and fire restrictions to ensure safety. Care and reception centers have been established for those affected by the evacuations.
