CICA’s 6th Summit to kick off in Astana
Heads of state of 11 countries, including President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, and President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran, will meet in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, where the 6th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will be held this week.
At the press conference on high-level visits to the country this week, Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Aybek Smadiyarov stated that the 6th CICA Summit would be held in the capital Astana.
Smadiyarov stated that the Summit would be hosted by President Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev of Kazakhstan and will be attended by heads of state from CICA members, including President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran.
"We assume that the 6th CICA Summit will be one of the biggest foreign policy events not only in the region but also in the continent in the post-Covid-19 period," said.
Smadiyarov, who stated that nearly 50 delegations from 27 member states will attend the Summit of CICA, which represents approximately 90 percent of the Asian continent.
Stressing that the heads of state of the CIS member countries will meet face-to-face for the first time after Covid-19, Smadiyarov said, "We expect the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to participate in the event.
