Iran's leader meets Hamas officials in Tehran
Iran's President Masouid Pezeshkian met with the Head of Hamas Leadership Council, Mohammad Darwish.
Darwish and other senior Hamas officials, including acting Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, earlier met with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah, Ali Khamenei.
Iranian TV said the Palestinian leaders were in Tehran to congratulate Khamenei on the anniversary of the 1979 Iranian revolution. They expressed gratitude for Iran's continued support.
The delegation presented Khamenei with a report on the current situation in Gaza and the West Bank, and "the victories and successes that were achieved".
Also Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei met with acting Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya and two other leaders of the Palestinian group in Tehran.
"You defeated the Zionist regime [Israel], which was in fact America's defeat," Khamenei, whose country supports Hamas in its war with Israel, told the Palestinian delegation. "You did not allow them to achieve any of their goals."

The delegation, which also included Mohammad Darwish, head of Hamas' leadership council, and top Hamas official Nizar Awadallah, presented Khamenei with a report on the current situation in Gaza and the West Bank, and "the victories and successes that were achieved".
Ayatollah Khamenei said there is no question in the minds of the Iranian people about defending Palestine and supporting the Palestinian people, and the issue is a “resolved” matter.
"Palestine is a major issue for us and the victory of Palestine is also a definite issue for us," the Leader said.
He stressed that the ultimate victory belongs to the Palestinian people, saying certain vicissitudes should not cause doubt and instead, the move forward should continue with the strength of faith and hope for divine assistance.
Addressing the Hamas leaders, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “By the grace of God, the day will come when you have proudly solved the al-Quds issue for the Islamic world. That day will definitely come.”
