The blaze was first reported shortly after 2 p.m. near Mount Poso Conservation Plant Road, just south of Famoso Woody Road. Initially estimated at five acres, the fire rapidly grew in size due to dry vegetation and warm afternoon winds.

The Kern County Fire Department has issued evacuation orders for Zone KRN-606, while evacuation warnings remain in effect for Zones KRN-600, KRN-601, and KRN-605. Residents in these areas are urged to remain vigilant and prepared to evacuate if conditions worsen.
