Iranian FM meets with Omani officials on his visit to the Persian Gulf country
Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has hailed the long-lasting and sustainable relations between Iran and Oman, emphasising that the expansion of ties with Persian Gulf littoral states is top on the foreign policy agenda of the incumbent Iranian administration.
“During our one-day visit, we will discuss the development of bilateral, regional and international relations with Omani officials and the country’s foreign minister (Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi),” Amir-Abdollahian told reporters upon arrival at Muscat International Airport on Monday.
“Good neighbourliness and expansion of interactions with neighbouring countries are top on the foreign policy agenda of the current Iranian administration,” he said.
The Iranian foreign minister then pointed to the quadripartite transit agreement between Iran, Oman, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, expressing hope that the accord would soon come into force between the contracting states.
Amir-Abdollahian left Tehran for Muscat on Monday morning.
The top Iranian diplomat is set to hold talks with top Omani officials on ways to enhance the political, economic, and cultural relations between the two countries as well as major regional issues.
Earlier this month, Amir-Abdollahian and his Omani counterpart stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation on the international level.
The top Iranian and Omani diplomats also urged the continuation of consultations on different mutual and international issues.
