Six Palestinians killed in Israeli raid in West Bank
Six Palestinians were killed and 18 others injured by Israeli forces during a military raid in the occupied West Bank city of Qabatiya, the governor of Jenin said.
The governor, Kamal Abu al-Rub, said during a phone call that four of the injured were in critical condition, and that Israeli forces withdrew from Qabatiya after destroying infrastructure in the area.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.
Violence has surged in the West Bank since the start of the war in Gaza, with almost daily sweeps by Israeli forces that have involved thousands of arrests and regular gun battles between security forces and Palestinian fighters.
Hundreds of Jordanians marched in central Amman in support of Gaza and Lebanon.
Israel killed a top Hezbollah commander and other senior figures in the Lebanese movement in an airstrike on Beirut, vowing to press on with a new military campaign until it is able to secure the area around the Lebanese border.
Lebanon's health ministry said the strike killed 12 people and wounded 66 others, nine of whom were in critical condition. Rescue teams were searching for people under the rubble of two buildings, the country's civil defense service said.
Many at Amman's protest, were carrying signs with Palestinian and Jordanian flags, and chanted pro-Palestinian slogans, and pictures of Maher Al-Jazi who shot three Israeli security forces at a border crossing.
It was the first attack of its kind along the border with Jordan since Oct. 7, when Palestinian Islamist group Hamas carried out an assault on southern Israel, sparking the war in Gaza that has since escalated throughout the region.
Jordan, which lies at the heart of the Arab-Israeli conflict, hosts 2.4 million Palestinian refugees, the largest number of such refugees among Israel's neighbors and many of its citizens are of Palestinian origin.
