Over 80 rockets launched from Lebanon hit Israel
A barrage of over 80 rockets were fired from Lebanon into northern Israel, triggering sirens in the city of Haifa and leading to significant fires and damage in the suburb of Kiryat Ata.
Interceptions could be seen above Haifa, Israel's third largest city and a busy international port.
Videos distributed by the country's ambulance service MDA showed vehicles and a residential building on fire in the town, east of Haifa.
The city's Rambam hospital said three men wounded during the barrage were admitted for medical treatment.
An Israeli army statement said that nearly 200 rockets in total were launched from Lebanon into Israel.
The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah started firing rockets into Israel border communities after a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
Fighting has escalated dramatically since late September when Israel launched a ground offensive into Lebanon, in addition to intensifying air strikes.
Hezbollah has ramped up daily rocket and drone attacks against Israel.
Hezbollah has not received any proposals on a truce for Lebanon, a spokesperson said, as Israel's foreign minister said diplomatic efforts had made "progress" and amid Israeli media reports that the cabinet had approved a ceasefire proposal.
"So far, according to my information, nothing official has reached Lebanon or us in this regard," the head of Hezbollah's media office, Mohammad Afif, said in a news conference in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Meanwhile People gathered to mourn those killed in an Israeli strike on the Lebanese town of Deir Qanoun Ras Al-Ain, ahead of their funeral in Tyre, southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese health ministry said Israeli attacks have killed at least 3,136 people and wounded 13,979 in Lebanon over the last year. The toll includes 619 women and 194 children.
Israel has intensified and expanded its bombing campaign, and Hezbollah has ramped up daily rocket and drone attacks against Israel.
