“Tulsi Gabbard” Joins Trump's 2024 Campaign
Former US Congresswoman and 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard joined Donald Trump's campaign as the former president addressed the National Guard Association Conference in Detroit.
Gabbard, former vice chair of the National Democratic Party, received warm praise from Trump as he welcomed her to the stage where she endorsed the Republican candidate.
"I had the privilege of joining President Trump this morning at Arlington Cemetery, where he joined two Gold Star families and loved ones of Staff Sergeant Hoover and Sergeant Gee, both of whom were two of the 13 killed in the Abbey gate attack three years ago today in Kabul. And I can tell you, as we were there, as he laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, joining these Marines' loved ones, I felt the sorrow that he shared with them, in their loss," she said.
During the event, Gabbard shared her experience with Trump at Arlington Cemetery honoring casualties of the tragic Abbey Gate attack in Kabul three years prior.
Marks three years since a suicide attack at Kabul's international airport killed 13 US troops and scores of civilians during the United States' chaotic evacuation from the country.
The bombing occurred on Aug. 26, 2021, as US troops were trying to help Americans and Afghans flee in the chaotic aftermath of the Taliban's takeover, and compounded America's sense of defeat after 20 years of war.
"Our country will never be safe again until we have fired those responsible for this disaster. Nobody fired the worst, most embarrassing, in my opinion, the most embarrassing day in the history of our country," Trump said.
Trump also mentioned how a Pennsylvania Air National Guard member aided Corey Comperatore, one of the supporters who died in Trump's attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania.
