Iran strikes fuel tanks in Bahrain
Muharraq facility hit as Persian Gulf tensions rise and vessels targeted
Iran has targeted fuel storage tanks at a facility in Bahrain’s Muharraq governorate, according to a statement from the country’s Interior Ministry, in the latest escalation of attacks across the Gulf as the regional conflict intensifies. Bahraini authorities said the strike caused a fire at the site and warned residents in nearby areas to remain indoors as emergency crews worked to contain the blaze.
The Interior Ministry described the incident as “blatant Iranian aggression” and said the fuel tanks at the facility in Muharraq were hit during the attack. Officials did not immediately provide details on the type of weapon used or whether there were casualties, but authorities confirmed that firefighting teams were battling flames and monitoring smoke from the burning tanks.
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has conducted strikes on two commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz after they repeatedly ignored warnings.
The vessels, identified as the Express Room, owned by the Zionist regime and sailing under a Liberian flag, and the container ship, Mayuree Naree, were both targeted by Iranian forces following their “illegal insistence” on transiting the strategic waterway without authorization.
Iran has declared that every vessel intending to pass must obtain permission.
