Iran warns of escalation as missiles hit regional targets

IRGC launches 78th wave of strikes

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced a new wave of retaliatory strikes against U.S. and Israeli targets, saying precision missiles and combat drones hit sites in Eilat, Dimona, northern Tel Aviv and multiple U.S. bases in the region. The IRGC described the action as the 78th wave of Operation "True Promise 4," dedicated to residents of Iran’s eastern provinces, and said it used Emad and Qadr multiwarhead missiles for “pinpoint” strikes.

The force characterized its operations as “impact-centered” responses to what it called aggressors and warned that most combat units of the IRGC and Basij have not yet entered the battlefield, threatening intensified action if required. The statement also claimed the IRGC is monitoring enemy attempts to change the course of fighting and pledged swift, severe retaliation against those who plan or execute attacks.

Tehran framed the strikes as retaliation for a large-scale military campaign allegedly launched by the U.S. and Israel after the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and senior commanders on February 28. Iran says earlier aerial attacks caused heavy casualties and infrastructure damage, prompting repeated missile-and-drone responses aimed at American and Israeli positions across the region. The developments raise acute military and diplomatic tensions, with Iran signaling potential escalation if hostilities continue.
