Sarah Paulson honored with walk of fame star
Ceremony celebrates her wide-ranging roles and long career
Sarah Paulson received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard honoring her extensive work in television and beyond. The recognition, placed in the Television category, celebrated a career that spans cult hits, prestige dramas and stage triumphs. Paulson — noted for frequent collaborations with producer Ryan Murphy, including standout portrayals of polarizing real-life figures such as Marcia Clark and Linda Tripp — said she is drawn to playing “real people,” citing the freedom of working within established facts to explore character.
Murphy has collaborated with Paulson on some 20 projects, a creative partnership she described as a kind of indefinable alchemy. At the ceremony, partner and fellow actor Holland Taylor praised Paulson’s craft, calling attention to her precise grasp of a character’s vulnerabilities, heroism and comic pathos. Colleagues and friends in attendance included Amanda Peet and other industry figures; fans of Paulson’s work on series like American Horror Story, Coven and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story were also present.
Paulson’s career encompasses notable film and stage work as well as television. She has portrayed a wide range of figures from contemporary political advisors to historical characters, and her achievements include an Emmy and a Tony among other awards. Her 2024 Tony win was singled out during the event as part of a résumé that observers described as both versatile and influential.
Born in Tampa and raised in New York after her parents’ divorce, Paulson credits an early immersion in performing arts for shaping her ambitions; she attended the High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan, where she honed her craft. Reflecting on her trajectory at the ceremony, she acknowledged youthful dreams of fame while emphasizing a lifelong dedication to performance.
The Walk of Fame recognition was widely viewed as a long-overdue acknowledgment of Paulson’s range and sustained impact across television, film and theater. Supporters and industry commentators highlighted her ability to inhabit complex, often controversial roles with nuance and depth, and celebrated the honor as a fitting milestone in a career defined by both critical acclaim and a devoted fan base.
