Xi Jinping urges stronger China-UAE ties
Chinese President calls for deeper strategic cooperation with UAE
Chinese President Xi Jinping urged closer strategic ties with the United Arab Emirates during a meeting with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, calling for a robust, dynamic partnership as the world faces mounting geopolitical challenges. Xi stressed that greater coordination and cooperation are essential as humanity confronts choices between peace and war and between unity and confrontation. Both sides framed the relationship as a key pillar of regional and global stability, underscoring shared interests in managing complex international risks.
The leaders emphasized expanding cooperation across trade, energy, infrastructure and technology. China and the UAE signaled intentions to deepen economic integration and pursue long-term collaboration on major projects linking Asia and the Middle East. The crown prince highlighted priorities such as renewable energy, logistics and investment, reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to boosting bilateral ties and attracting Chinese participation in strategic sectors.
Officials said discussions also addressed regional developments and the need for stability in the Middle East, with both parties voicing support for dialogue and diplomatic solutions to ongoing conflicts. The visit occurred against a backdrop of heightened Persian Gulf tensions after recent U.S.–Iran talks failed to produce a deal to end weeks of hostilities, a context that participants said made coordination and communication especially important.
Analysts view the meeting as part of China’s broader effort to strengthen its presence in the Persian Gulf through economic and diplomatic engagement. Observers expect the talks to yield further agreements and initiatives aimed at reinforcing cooperation, including joint investments and infrastructure projects. The dialogue reflects a mutual interest in leveraging complementary strengths—China’s investment and technology capacity and the UAE’s strategic location and energy resources—to build a more resilient, diversified partnership that can navigate a rapidly changing global landscape.
