British comedian Ricky Gervais was honored with the 2,813th star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in the Television category. Describing the recognition as a blend of "luck, persistence, and a little bit of pushing against the tide," Gervais expressed his humility at having his name etched on the iconic Walk of Fame, a tribute to the dreamers and doers of the entertainment industry.

The ceremony took place at 1628 Vine Street in Los Angeles and featured speeches from actor Christopher Guest and Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, with Variety correspondent Angelique Jackson serving as the emcee. Gervais is renowned for creating and starring in hit television shows such as "The Office," "Extras," "Derek," and "After Life." He has hosted the Golden Globes five times and achieved global success with his Netflix stand-up specials, including "Humanity," "SuperNature," and "Armageddon." The latter won a Golden Globe and was nominated for a Grammy, while his performance at the Hollywood Bowl set a Guinness World Record for the highest-grossing comedy gig ever.

Gervais's star on the Walk of Fame is a testament to his significant contributions to comedy and television. Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez noted that Gervais's addition would bring a "snarky commentary" to the famed sidewalk, reflecting his unique comedic style. 

Beyond his entertainment achievements, Gervais is also recognized for his advocacy in animal welfare, having received awards such as the Daily Mirror Animal Hero Award and the Humane Society International’s Cecil Award. His star now joins those of other distinguished figures in television, marking a significant milestone in Gervais's illustrious career and celebrating his lasting impact on the comedy landscape.
